First look at Mio Moov 200, 330 and 370Not long now before the first Mio devices since the Mio merger with one of the other big navigation unit manufacturers, Navman, will be released. This first ‘batch’ will consist of three products: the Mio Moov 200 (with 3.5 inch touch screen) and the Mio Moov 330 and 370 (both with 4.3 inch touch screens).

Fusion
Early in 2007, MiTac International, the company which own Mio Technology bought competitor Navman for the sum of 16 million USD. In 2007 both manufacturers continued releasing separate products, but this year they’ve combined forces and merged into one big company. The first results of this merger are these new Moov devices.

The idea was to use the ‘strengths’ of both Mio and Navman and combine those into new products. This resulted in the new Moov devices being based on Mio hardware and navigational software developed by Navman.

Of course, this merger does mean there’s now a new brand on the PND market. More may be expected since this new company now has a greater financial resources, contains twice the amount of know-how than before and its network of offices has also enlarged considerably. This means Mio has now become a much bigger player on the PND market.

A force to be reckoned with ?
Samuel Wang, President of Mio Corporation claimed earlier this year: “With the merger of the Mio and Navman brands, two complementary organizations have been brought together with a shared passion for delivering consumers the best navigation experience. Mio Technology brings core competencies in hardware to the table, while Navman brings expertise in software and content, creating a new brand that is better able to create unique, innovative products and services.”
